When each of us starts trading we all want to make our fortune right away. But we soon find out
that there are some things we need to learn and master first. It might be technical analysis,
gaining control of our emotions, or developing discipline.
Trading is a journey. It cannot be a hobby it must be a long-term passion and even be treated as
and become a business. Trading is not a sprint making a few quick trades to become successful.
Trading is a race of endurance, which will require the trader to develop patience and the power of
observation.
Trading is not a spectator sport one must be involved and practice trading. We cannot spend very
much time in forms and chat rooms discussing how the market works, beating up on brokers, other
traders, and trading systems. To be a good trader we must be involved. Trading will refine us and
develop our skills. It takes study, practice, meditation, and observation with an eye focused on
detail. One must look at the momentum of the market the strength of the move, and the over all
direction of the move, paying attention to the different time frames to time an entry.
Trading will refine a person and help them develop the necessary trading skills to become
successful at trading or they will leave trading, frustrated and disillusioned as to what trading
really is all about. Even though we do not like those learning experiences we each need these
refining experiences to develop our trading strength.
When we first start trading we are not what we must become to enjoy the rewards of trading.
So settle in for the long run. Keep the big picture in mind by looking at the longer term time
frames then learn to trade in the predominate direction of the market. We all need help from
others, so don’t try and do it by yourself. Because the market will keep giving us the same
experience over and over again until we have learned from that experience what we need to know
before we can move on. We need instruction, encouragement, and motivation from an outside source
at times enabling us to continue on when we become discouraged.
These are some of the reasons we feel that everyone needs a trading system, and a group of
like-minded people to learn from and share with. Share your successes and learning experiences
with others so you can see more clearly how the market works. You will learn by both sharing and
reviewing the experiences of others.
Be of good cheer, the next time you feel like groaning about a trade try laughing and learn the
lesson form the experience.
